ENNA Next is the first in Croatia to provide the aFRR+ service

ENNA Next offers complete secondary frequency regulation

Date publishedMay 13, 2025

Zagreb, May 13, 2025 – After becoming an active participant in balancing the Croatian power system in March this year, ENNA Next is the first in Croatia to submit an offer and receive a positive confirmation in the tender for providing the aFRR+ service – automatic frequency restoration reserve in the direction of increasing electricity production or reducing consumption, with a capacity of 3 MW.

What does this mean?
For the secure and stable operation of the power system, it is essential to constantly maintain a balance between electricity production and consumption, that is, to keep the grid frequency at 50 Hz. In moments when the frequency of the power system drops below 50 Hz, indicating an energy shortage in the grid, ENNA Next’s system automatically responds to the requests of HOPS (Croatian Transmission System Operator) by increasing production or reducing consumption within its portfolio of electricity producers and consumers, in order to restore balance.

In combination with the existing aFRR- service, ENNA Next now offers complete secondary frequency regulation, meaning it can respond to both surpluses and deficits in the system.

With this, ENNA Next clearly demonstrates that it is among the most reliable partners for advanced and flexible energy solutions in Croatia.
