Jošt Štrukelj at the Conference on Energy Transition in Slovenia
Ljubljana, 12 December 2025 – Jošt Štrukelj, Director of ENNA Next Slovenija, took part in the conference “From Words to Action: Energy Transition Now,” held on Thursday, 11 December 2025, in Ljubljana. The event brought together representatives from Slovenia’s energy sector, business community, political sphere, academia, and civil society.
Štrukelj joined a panel discussion entitled “Kilowatts for Competitiveness: Energy as the Fuel of the Economy”, alongside Marko Bombač, CEO of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, and Evald Kranjčević, Executive Director for Energy Production, Energy Solutions, and Mobility at Petrol.
The discussion focused on investment in energy projects, with panelists emphasising the importance of a stable and predictable environment to reduce investment risks.
"One of the key challenges in this area in Slovenia is the need for a stable regulatory framework that does not change too frequently—or ideally, remains consistent throughout the lifetime of an investment", Štrukelj explained.
The conference also highlighted the complexity of Slovenia’s energy landscape, which relies on a combination of nuclear power, hydropower, and thermal power plants, with renewable sources playing an increasingly significant role. Key topics included future nuclear capacity, modernisation of transmission and distribution networks, accelerating investment in low-carbon sources, and ensuring sufficient new capacity to maintain a stable and competitive energy system.
