How do batteries contribute to greater energy independence and transform the way we live?

It’s time for batteries

Every time we generate electricity by burning fossil fuels, we create air pollution and emit greenhouse gases - which are responsible for climate change and global warming. On the other hand, renewable energy sources represent an environmentally friendly, energy-efficient and accessible power source available to everyone.

According to Eurostat data, last year 47.4% of net electricity production in the European Union came from renewable sources - an increase of 2.6 percentage points compared to 2023. At the top of the list is Denmark with a share of 88.8%, where wind power plays a key role, followed by Portugal with 87.4%, thanks to a combination of wind and hydropower.

Croatia, with a 73.8 % share of renewable sources in net electricity production, ranks high in third place. At present, the bulk of that share is hydro-power, which means there is ample room for growth in the wind and solar segments. What’s more, Croatia has significant potential for further development of renewables - especially solar energy, a resource ideally suited to the country’s climate.

With the introduction of battery systems - the next generation of household energy management - that potential can be better harnessed and turned into genuine energy independence.
