Such solutions make households more resilient to future changes in electricity prices and reduce their dependence on the electricity grid.

Strong growth of battery systems in the European Union

A record 21.9 GWh of new battery systems were installed in Europe in 2024, with households accounting for more than 50 percent of the total accumulated capacity. Germany leads the way, with almost 600,000 new home batteries in 2024, followed by Italy and the United Kingdom. New installations are expected to grow further by more than 30 percent in 2025.
