Fund's public call announced

Zagreb, January 30, 2026 – The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund announced that in 2026 it will co-finance the installation of solar power plants, heat pumps and battery energy storage systems for citizens.

The Fund's public call will be published in the second quarter of the year, i.e. between April and June 2026. A total of 20 million euros has been secured for incentives. Persons (citizens) who are owners and co-owners of existing family houses will be able to apply for the public call, as confirmed in the indicative annual plan of public calls published on the Fund's website.

The details of the public call are not yet known, but last year it was possible to achieve co-financing of up to 50 percent of eligible costs, or up to 600 euros per kilowatt (kW) of the nominal power of the installed power plant. Given that each power plant is specific and depends on various factors such as household consumption and the type and orientation of the roof, it is advisable to prepare the documentation in time so that citizens are ready for the public call and application.

Battery incentives

For the first time, the Fund has also provided incentives for battery systems for households. Batteries, combined with a solar power plant, represent the next big step towards energy self-sufficiency because they allow for maximum use of the energy produced. Instead of sending excess electricity from solar panels to the grid and later withdrawing it at a higher rate, the energy produced in the panels is stored in a battery and used when it is most needed; in the evening, at night or during periods of weaker daylight.
