Virtual power plants are coming: ENNA Next launches new project

Aggregation through virtual power plants

Date publishedSeptember 9, 2024

Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) consist of electricity consumers as well as producers (solar power plants, wind farms, biogas plants, cogeneration plants, etc.) and energy storage batteries. On the Croatian market, a virtual power plant will utilise its technological platform to integrate network users, enabling smart management of production and consumption in line with system conditions. This will allow its partners to generate additional revenue by providing ancillary services to the system.

The energy needs of all involved stakeholders are managed integrally within the virtual power plant system to maintain market balance and ensure VPP service users maximise the benefits of a wide network of entities with diverse energy needs.

An aggregator (ENNA Next) communicates directly with the transmission system operator (HOPS) to maintain balance by managing the production and/or consumption of network users within its aggregation system, i.e., its virtual power plant.

The ultimate goal of VPPs is to ensure system stability while enabling network users and partners to generate additional revenue. Aggregation, or virtual power plants, aimed at balancing the energy system, is a necessary prerequisite for the further development of the system and the integration of renewable energy sources in an economically viable way.

ENNA Next has assembled a team of experts combining extensive knowledge and experience in the Croatian and European energy markets. It now offers domestic companies virtual power plants - an innovative business model that allows them to maximise their energy potential.

“A virtual power plant will bring multiple benefits - it allows end-users to become active participants in the electricity market, generating additional income in the process. The goal of virtual power plants is not just system balancing but also supporting sustainable development by integrating renewable sources. In doing so, we contribute to the green transition of the Croatian economy toward a more sustainable energy system,” explained Marijeta Majer, Sales Director at ENNA Next. She invited all business entities, electricity consumers and producers who wish to turn their energy challenges into new opportunities to reach out with questions or express interest at poslovni@enna-next.hr.

ENNA Next is a market leader in solar solutions in Croatia, particularly in the residential sector, with over 2,000 contracted solar power plants. It exclusively offers a "turnkey" service model, including a 10-year warranty and the best equipment on the market, featuring microinverters.

In addition to microinverters, which facilitate system upgrades, ENNA Next distinguishes itself from other players in the solar market with fast and responsive customer support. This support is available to assist customers in selecting the optimal power plant and after the plant becomes operational.
