€50 million available to Croatian businesses to co-finance battery storage installations: What you need to know before applying
There is a major opportunity for Croatian businesses to reduce their energy costs. A call for grants has been launched to support the installation of energy storage facilities designed to store self-generated electricity for delivery to the grid at a later time.
Put simply, businesses that already have a solar power plant or are planning to build one can receive co-funding for battery storage systems. A total of €50 million has been allocated for this purpose. The minimum grant available per project is €60,000, while the maximum is €1.5 million.
Why should eligible businesses seize this opportunity, and why will batteries soon become one of the cornerstones of Croatia’s energy system? These questions were answered by energy expert Dario Antolović, Director of Integrated Energy Services at ENNA Next. The company supplies electricity and gas to business customers and also implements solar power plants and battery storage systems, alongside innovative energy solutions such as virtual power plants.
What are the main benefits for businesses that apply for this funding and install battery storage systems?
– We believe that co-funding facilities for storing self-generated electricity represents an exceptional opportunity for businesses and strengthens Croatia’s position in the energy transition. This funding scheme enables faster deployment, helps end users reduce costs and gives them greater flexibility in using their own energy. Battery storage systems also have a significant positive impact on the electricity grid, helping to reduce its load and improve stability.
